Sarina Wiegman could she adapt to the mens game?
Seems like a great manager. Could she adapt to the men's game?

Re: Sarina Wiegman could she adapt to the mens game?
No because she would have to play against teams that are ranked higher than her team which she never has to do for England.

Well this is a new low.

twoleftfeet - England are currently ranked 4th in the world. The fact that we didn't need to play anyone above us to get to the final is because football doesn't work like that.

Would certainly be interesting to see how she would get on in the mens game. Obviously the standard isn't as high but you can't fault the Lionesses organisation, game management, fitness and sheer determination to win... been impressive.

Give her chance and see how it goes.

Not us of course, maybe someone like Wrexham.

I don't think the idea is at all far fetched, and it's inevitable that a woman will become a Prem manager within the next decade.

I'd have Wiegman over Moyes all day long.

Could she adapt to the Men’s game? I think she’d struggle

Could she do a better job than Moyes? Yes

Re: Sarina Wiegman could she adapt to the mens game?
If offered a club I dont think she would bottle it unlike the Chelsea champion

Doubt it, although to be fair, she's at least played professional football, so you'd think that makes her more qualified than the likes of Roy Hodgson, Arrigo Sacchi, Villas-Boas, Gerard Houllier, etc. etc.

"she's at least played professional football"

I've read it all now.

Re: Sarina Wiegman could she adapt to the mens game?
I remember reading an article about Mourinho when he coached at Real Madrid about him giving Sergio Ramos shit about his defending and Ramos going back at him over the fact he never played at an elite level.

At the top, the manager position is much more about, well, managing. Players, egos, etc. I think she would run into a great deal of difficulty given everyone she would be instructing could have run circles around her when she was in her prime when they were about 14.

Re: Sarina Wiegman could she adapt to the mens game?
Well, you can be as pedantic about it as you like, but she has, and the other managers I mentioned have not, at any level.

Re: Sarina Wiegman could she adapt to the mens game?
generally steered clear of the women's world cup thread, but this intrigues me.

She seems to know her onions. Done a great job.

But we must be honest about the level.

In 2016 - the Australian women's national team, ranked 5th in the world, were beaten 7-0 by the Newcastle JETS U15s.

In 2017, the reigning women's world champions - the USA - the most successful team in the world in the last 20 years and including household names like Carli Lloyd & Alex Morgan, were beaten 5-2 by the U15s of FC DALLAS.

They seemingly stopped bothering after these events - with the only recent example being a team of recently retired US Internationals being beaten 12-0 by a team of former Wrexham players led by Lee TRUNDLE, in a 40-minute 7-a-side game. The US goalkeeper was the player of the match.

So realistically, its probably about U11 level. And a few leagues below Isthmian (which is two below the conference).

So its arguably a question of whether you think that managers of those teams could do a job. Reckon most would say no. But you never know.

Forest Green or Dulwich Hamlet are the right places to start - woke, hipster clubs where you'd get a decent grounding.

Yeah, in the same way a Big Mac stacker is a professional chef.
